Happy New Years!
I spent this timing with friends and family. Sadly I ended up catching the flu, but that didn't stop me from having a nice time! The days I wasn't sick, I went out to eat with friends.

I wanted to spend this time not on my computer at all, so I never started it up once. During the earlier days of sick, I carved lots of rubber stamps. I'm not sure why, but I've been wanting to do this for while. I tried using a swivel knife for the first time, it didn't work exactly like I expected it to, but once I got the hang of it, it was nice to use for this.

I bought some wooden blocks as well so I could glue the stamps onto them for a nice grip. As I picked them up, I realized it was for whittling, and an urge to carve wood also overcame me. There were a few tools next to the wooden blocks in a set that I also picked up. So, after I got rubber stamp-making out of my system, I carved a fish with one of the wooden bocks.

After the fish, I glued on some googly eyes, and realized I wanted to keep carving... The fish was a denser block than the two I carved from after, so it was a little easier to dig in and make details. I cleaned them up with some sandpaper after which smoothed them out quite a bit. I drew faces on with pencil, though I'm a bit worried if I try to put varnish on these, that the pencil will wash away...

Because I didn't open my computer once during these 2 weeks, I didn't touch my game personal project, but I'll get back to it today. Beforehand, I started putting together the village area.

It was nice to do crafts not focused on the computer and hang out with friends and family, but it's time I get back to things as normal. (though I might still do another wood carving or two on some free time.) I do miss my friends though..
